Who is First Cut Farms?
Jerry Munn is a long time SF resident transplanted from Wisconsin in 1992 after meeting Dennis Peron at a The Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival as a 20 year old man. In 1993, he moved to San Francisco to become one of Dennis’ growers and activists. Helping found and operate the first buyers club in the Castro. Jerry is equal parts patient, activist, farmer, and compassion medical care provider.
In 2009, Jerry relocated to Covelo, Ca to continue his pursuit in cannabis cultivation. He managed several small gardens in the Mendocino National Forest that surround Covelo’s valley.
In 2011 he founded Absolute Organics with his brother and dispensed the cannabis he grew as a prop 215 delivery. He offered his proprietary genetics to other growers through his company Mendo Seeds, until 2016 when he chose to move forward focusing on his cultivation expertise to pursue licensing under California prop 64.
He currently holds two 5000 sqft cultivation licenses in Covelo, Ca, First Cut Farms.
Jerry’s breeding program has spanned decades and his cultivars are award winning. Having taken the silver metal at the state fair in 2022, Ego clash 2024 he placed 8th, Ridge Sesh 2024 he placed 3rd, and he placed 6th at the first annual Mendo Cup in 2025.
Patty is an Oakland Native whose interest in human health started in 1998 as a fitness professional and weight management counselor for the morbidly obese population in the East Bay Area. She has been a cannabis patient since 1995. She began working in cannabis as a broker and trimmer in 1998. She sprung back into cannabis work by launching a prop 215 compassion collective with a couple of friends in Berkeley in 2010, with a small Hydroponic cultivation.
Longing to raise her daughter out of the city, and also to deepen her relationship with the plant as a cultivator she moved to rural Northern California in 2012. Open Hearts Open Minds became Noble Gardens In 2016 and Patty sought and obtained a 5000 sqft cultivation license which she managed and operated until 2023.
Jerry and Patty joined forces in 2024, the pair is beginning their second season growing together on Jerry’s farm in Covelo, Ca. Together they operate 7500 square feet of full term sungrown canopy and 2500 square feet of low impact hoop house protected canopy using forced flower techniques to maximize protection in that space, getting 2 flowering cycles from that space each year.
They pride themselves on being farmers first, and a brand second. From cultivation, processing and manufacturing, to graphic design, packaging and order fulfillment, the energetic and enthusiastic couple handles it all. They are determined to provide the highest quality cannabis and hash products under the First Cut Farms brand.
Their farming practices exceed most organic standards. Jerry makes JADAM solutions to help control pests and employs Korean Natural Farming practices to improve soil health and replenish the biosphere. They use only organic inputs fertilizers, restoring ideal conditions in the native soil on one farm and amending recycled soil on the other. They are commitment to being good stewards to the land, leaving it regenerated and healthy season after season.
They live on a 7 acre parcel with their 5 cats and spend most days quietly tending the garden.
